Medical expense coverage – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP kick in for bills for hospital visits, X-ray expenses and ambulance fees. They can be utilized in addition to your health insurance program or if you do not have health coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants in addition to getting struck while a pedestrian. Personal injury protection coverage is not an option in every state but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Uninsured or underinsured coverage – This coverage gives you protection when other motorists do not carry enough liability coverage. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and damage to your Chevy C/K 1500 Series.
Due to the fact that many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage is very important. Most of the time the UM/UIM limits do not exceed the liability coverage limits.
Comprehensive protection – Comprehensive insurance coverage covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive can pay for things like vandalism, rock chips in glass, hail damage and fire damage. The maximum amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Coverage for liability – Liability insurance will cover damage that occurs to a person or their property that is your fault. It protects YOU from claims by other people. Liability doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. As an example, you may have liability limits of 100/300/100 which means $100,000 bodily injury coverage, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Some companies may use one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which limits claims to one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability insurance covers things like bail bonds, medical expenses and structural damage. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a decision to put some thought into, but buy as high a limit as you can afford.
Collision coverage – Collision insurance covers damage to your C/K 1500 Series caused by collision with an object or car. You will need to pay your deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision insurance covers things such as damaging your car on a curb, sideswiping another vehicle and hitting a mailbox. This coverage can be expensive, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from lower value vehicles. It’s also possible to choose a higher deductible to save money on collision insurance.
